Harrogate house is a new residence design for a family whose house had burnt down in the January 2020 bushfires. The house is designed to respond both to the climate, the site, and the conditions now and in the future. We worked with the client to carefully choose the site in response to all of these factors and give a permanence and security to the homes.
The design follows the contours of the land. It frames views of mountain ranges and sunsets, at the same time as exposing the living areas to the northern sun and sheltering them from the Southern wind. It’s important for homes like this to work both economically and sustainably so we designed the house so that it can get maximum solar generation of electricity to the roof and also good passive shading.
The clients had a clear idea of the aesthetic that they wanted for this house and we listen carefully to the brief and responded with a design that we are all excited about.
This house will be constructed by Kameleon Concepts in 2021 and we are looking forward to seeing it completed.
