23 years ago I was lucky enough to be involved in the construction of the gallery in the remote community of Patjarr with @unisa.architecture other students, lecturers and friends. It was a life changing experience.
This week my old mate @skaterjase went up there and took these photos and gave me permission to share them. It’s so so heartwarming to see this building so beautifully used to celebrate the art of the local community. It makes me very proud to have played a small part in it.
And by all reports that sliding door still slides 👌🏼
A few photos here by David Morris too who led the project and an important remembrance of the amazing Nick Opie who sadly lost his life on this trip. I remember him very fondly. I’m sure he would love these photos too
